REUBEN MBINDU - Chairman of The Advisory Board

Mr. Reuben Mbindu serves as a human resource Director of Equity Bank Limited. Mr. Mbindu served as the Head of human resources at Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge of Standard Chartered Bank having worked in London, Hong Kong, Zambia, Tanzania and South Africa. Previously, Mr. Mbindu served as the Head of Corporate Affairs at Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited. He served as the Head of Human Resources – Tanzania and Regional Head of Human Resources Operations for Africa. He made a major contribution in the design and automation of global HR processes in Standard Chartered.He also served as the Chairman of the famous Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon. He has expertise in various fields including technology, auditing, communication and human resources having worked at senior management levels in various organizations. Mr. Mbindu has also worked in other sectors including public sector (UNEP), consultancy (Deloitte) and ICT (Siemens, Germany). He holds a BSc. In Computer Science from Germany. He is a full member of the Institute of Human Resource Management in Kenya.

CEO - Esther Mutuma

Ms. Esther Mutuma serves as the Director and Chief Executive Officer, Asante Foundation. Her previous work experience includes Chief Operations Officer, Yehu Microfinance Trust. A natural charismatic leader, she is credited with turning around the Trust from losses to profitability. Prior to joining the microfinance, she held various senior management positions at Standard Chartered Bank in Kenya. She was a star at the bank and was entrusted with managing top corporate clients like Safaricom, among a list of other top notch clients. Before taking on Corporate Management, Esther was involved in Product Development, Customer Relationship Management and Credit Risk Management for Small and Medium Enterprises bank clients. Esther has worked across the borders in Southern Sudan during the post war reconstruction period, an experience that exposed her to working in a tough environment where she horned other skills like discipline, learner, activator and belief. Esther graduated from University of Cambridge, United Kingdom at the top of her class with a Masters degree in Social Entrepreneurship. She has a BA in Economics and Communications from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya. (CPA, K)

Dorothy Angote-Muya

Ms. Dorothy Angote-Muya is a senior policy and legal advisor/reforms expert. She is a lawyer and an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with a solid and well-rounded career experience in the private and public sectors including the judiciary, the Governance, Justice, Law and Order sector and the Land sector. She has served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Registrar General of the Republic of Kenya and in the Judiciary. (Presidential Appointments).

Ms. Angote-Muya has engaged extensively at high levels of the United Nations, the Commonwealth, the African Union, and the East African Community. She has also engaged extensively with development partners, including the World Bank and IMF, DFID, USAID, UNDP, GTZ, SIDA, EU (DGSP) in bilateral and multilateral governance and policy dialogue and in carrying out development/reform programmes. She has served on regional and international bodies, including – as Vice President of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), based in Geneva, Switzerland, a Member of the Advisory Board of the International Centre for Democratic Transition (ICDT) based in Budapest, Hungary and was elected - twice, by the African Union Heads of State Summit as a Member of the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AUABC). She has also served on various Boards/Councils including: the East African Community Sectoral Council on Legal and Judicial Affairs, the Multi-Sectoral Council of the East African Common Market Protocol, the Kenya Vision 2030 Board, the National Housing Corporation Board, the Industrial Development Bank of Kenya Board, the Kenya Industrial Property Institute Board (Administers Intellectual Property Rights),the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya, the National Humanitarian Advisory Committee, the Council of Legal Education and the Kenya Cultural Centre (incorporating the Kenya National Theatre) Governing Council.

Ms. Angote-Muya is a proven and award-winning Chief Executive Officer under Government Performance Contract. She has been awarded, by His Excellency the President, the State Honour of the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS), First Class, for distinguished and selfless service. Ms. Angote-Muya is an alumnus of Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government and has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons.) degree from the University of Nairobi.

MERCY KAGWIRIA

Ms. Mercy serves as the Head of Branch Banking - Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA). Prior to this appointment, she served as the Retail Manager Personal Banking Coast Region& Manager, Personal Banking, Coast Region for the same Bank. Mercy, joined CBA from Standard Chartered Bank where she served as the Regional Branch Manager Coast Region. Mercy is very experienced in Business Development, Credit Risk Management,People Leadership and Customer Experience. This skills saw her grow from a graduate clerk, through senior management to the topleadership positions she currently holds. Mercy is an MBA in Business Administration from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. She also holds a First Class Honors degree from the University of Nairobi.

Abdullah Noorani

Abdulhafeez Noorani is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya of more than ten years standing and a partner in the newly merged firm of Daly & Inamdar, Advocates. Prior to that, he trained at Kaplan & Stratton Advocates and then joined Inamdar & Inamdar, Advocates in Mombasa as a Junior Associate where he quickly rose to becoming a Partner. He has over ten years’ experience of property and commercial transactions at the Kenyan coast and has advised numerous clients on land acquisition and development, transaction structuring and commercial matters. Abdulhafeez has a particular interest in microfinance and social business which he pursues through his voluntary engagements with various societies an associations in Mombasa. Abdulhafeez holds an LL.B (Hons.) Degree from the University of Leicester, UK and is a member of the Law Society of Kenya.

Jason Fairbourne

Jason graduated from the London School of Business with a masters and is a former faculty at BYU in the business school. He is the founder of Motiis and Bamba Water, social enterprises in Kenya. He has extensive consulting experience at the BOP.

KETTAN SHAH

Mr. Kettan Shah is a graduate of Western Michigan University, USA where he studied Bachelor of Arts. He is experienced in the Real Estate business having worked several years and is the founding director of Coral Property Consultants Ltd and Coral Property International, both of which are esteemed Real Estate consultancy firms whose main focus is on property valuation,sales & marketing, management developing and related profitable investment solutions. He has a sturdy track record of originating, developing, and executing various gainful business ventures. He has held business leadership positions in various firms including part owner of Packaging Manufacturing (K) Ltd. as well as the current Chairman of Llango, a subsidiary of Home Afrika Ltd. In addition, Mr Shah has held leadership positions in the Rotary Club of Mombasa, as well as being a past President of Round Table Movement.

SADQA HAQ

Ms. Sadqa Haq serves as the Managing Director Lubanchem Company Limited. She is involved in Product Development, Manufacturing, Global Marketing and Company Operations. Sadqa has 15 years of experience as a Quality Assurance Manager in the local pharmaceutical industry and 10 years in the research, development and production of essential oils and nutraceuticals. Her passion and drive for business growth and community development has seen her create Luban Essential Oils Limited and Vetochem Limited trading in agro based commodities. Qualifications are MSc. Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry; from Loughborough University of Science and Technology, UK. Post graduate Diploma Industrial Pharmaceutical Studies (Brighton University UK).
