Briquette Factory Supervisor

Responsibilities:
As the Briquette Factory Supervisor you will report to the Briquette Factory General Manager. You will be expected to manage all aspects of the business operations which will include:

  • Sourcing raw materials (tree biomass, coconut biomass, sawdust, maize stalks, sugar cane bagass etc.)
  • Transportation of raw materials from farm to factory
  • Inventory management
  • Manufacturing and operations
  • Quality control
  • Packing and shipping
  • Managing staff that will make up the briquette factory team

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate should have had a minimum of 5 years working in a manufacturing environment with experience managing people.
  • Ability to be a team-player and a good communicator are a must
  • Excellent problem-solver, improvement-oriented
  • Mechanically-oriented
  • Experience running and maintaining machines and equipment
  • Experience working with rural farmers a plus
  • University degree a definite plus

Veneer Factory Operator

Responsibilities:
As a Veneer Factory Operator you will report to the Veneer Factory Supervisor. You will be expected to learn to operate and maintain/repair all machines and equipment in the factory and work as a team to produce high-quality eucalyptus veneer. These machines will include:

  • Tree debarking machine
  • Lathe peeling machine
  • Drying oven

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate should have experience working with equipment and be familiar with a manufacturing environment.
  • University degree holder will be an added advantage

Forester & Nursery Manager

Responsibilities:
As a Forester and Nursery Manager you should report to the Tree Farm Manager. Our primary tree plantations are eucalyptus but knowledge in multiple species and varieties is required. You will be expected to manage all aspects of the business operations which will include:

  • You will be expected to be knowledgeable in tree breeding, planting and wood lot management.
  • Monitor contract compliance and results of forestry activities to assure adherence to government regulations
  • You will be responsible to set up and manage a tree nursery and oversee the design, planting and management of hundreds of acres of tree plantations on the south coast.
  • Plan and supervise forestry projects, such as determining the type, number and placement of trees to be planted, managing tree nurseries, thinning forest and monitoring growth of new seedlings.
  • Supervise activities of other forestry workers.
  • Direct, and participate in, forest-fire suppression.
  • Perform inspections of forests or forest nurseries.

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate should have experience breeding trees, planting large wood lots and managing those plantations.
  • University degree in subject relating to forestry and tree breeding and management
  • Relevant work experience in the forestry sector
  • Team-player and a good communicator are a must

Truck Driver

Responsibilities:

As a Truck driver for Asante Capital you will report to the Veneer and Briquette Factory General Managers.  You will be expected to manage all aspects of the business operations which will include:

  • ·         Operating a tipper truck delivering materials to and from factory
  • ·         Operating a truck and trailer involved in Hauling containers to the Mombasa
  • ·         Operating a truck loaded with timber from outlying communities to factory
  • ·         General Maintenance of the truck
  • ·         General knowledge of local roads and access points
  • ·         Working with the supervisory staff that will make up the factory team 

    Requirements:

  • ·         The successful candidate should have served in the grade of Driver or in comparable and relevant position for           
  •            a minimum period of two (2) years.
  • ·          O level Certificate/Form 4 leaver.
  • ·         Valid Driving license
  • ·          Must have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • ·         Ability to be a team-player and a good communicator

Operations General Manager

Responsibilities

The Operations General Manager, will report to the COO and be expected to manage all aspects of the business operations which will include:

  • Working with all business unit teams and COO to manage local and international sales and marketing for all products including veneer, briquettes and ginger.
  • Overall responsibility for profitability, quality control, yields and cost management of wood processing operations including veneer and briquette business units.
  • Overall responsibility for profitability, quality control, yields and cost management of agri forestry operations.
  • Responsibility for environment and social impact for the organization. Provide support and oversight to ES officer.
  • Provide support and accountability to managing the budget approved by the board.
  • Work with financial controller to ensure operations are kept within budget.
    • Manage community relations to ensure Asante maintains a good brand and good will in the community in accordance with international environmental and social impact measurement standards.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have minimum of 10 years working in a professional environment with experience managing people and projects. In addition, the candidate will be appraised based on the following:

  • University degree in commerce, economics or statistics or engineerig preferred.
  • The successful candidate will have minimum of 10 years working experience in sales and marketing, business / product development and or operations.
  • Experience in large or mid – sized company with revenues of over
  • Ability to be a team player and a good communicator are a must
